Contest Brief

We would like to have a picture composition to use in the website of our research group. We work on robotics and on automation and intelligent systems both for industrial and health related applications. The picture could then be a composition that e.g. includes a (part of a) robot, and creates an association to industrial stuff and an association to health (e.g. a person). It can be asbtract, it does not need to comprise these things exactly.

Please do not use energy in writing the name of the group with funcy letters to create a logo, we have no interest in that. What we are after is a figure or picture composition, that illustrates the focus of our research group. If you do not understand what the group is about, what we write below, please do not use energy on this contest.

Research Group: "Automation, Robotics, and Intelligent Systems" (ARIS)
Description of the group:
Modern automation has evolved hand-in-hand with industry. The past twenty years or so have seen a tremendous development in mobile and wireless technologies, massive miniaturization, growth in low cost processor capacity as well as the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT).

At the same time Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have attained critical mass and reached a turning point where accumulative research has started bearing fruit. Machines and systems can sense, talk, and make decisions. This development has opened an amazing new chapter in autonomous/ autonomic and cognitive systems that is only to a very limited degree exploited in real applications so far. Devices, machines, control systems, robots, and artificial systems are progressing from offering simple calculation or task executing – to devices, machines, systems that interact directly with humans, comprehend a complex situation, collaborate autonomously, make assessments, learn, evolve and adapt.

The proposed research group, “Automation, Robotics, and Intelligent Systems (ARIS)” combines expertise in control engineering, modelling and simulation, electronics, communications, embedded systems, mechanical systems, AI, machine learning, and robotics. The combined expertise and research interests of the group members cover the main areas of applied research within Intelligent systems, including machine learning and AI.

ARIS, will focus on automation, robotics, cognitive and autonomic systems in collaboration with external partners – both within industry and the public sector. Our goal is to position ourselves as one of the top research groups in Norway and the Nordic countries with hands-on expertise within this area providing in particular self-learning and self-adapting systems for a range of applications within industry and the public sector. It is our ambition to build up transferable expertise and apply it to solve real problems. The group will aim at high quality scientific work, scientific publications, and patents.

Some of the thematic topics and applications we are addressing are:
• Self-learning systems and personalized solutions for Health applications
• Robotics and automation for the industry
• Industrial process regulation
• Internet of things and advanced solutions for next generation industry
• Materials and equipment fatigue, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance
• Self-adapting energy optimization in buildings
• Robotics and fleet optimization for maritime applications
• Computer vision and cognitive systems
• Modelling and simulation for industrial (Digital Twin) and health applications

Good day! Please note the entry 98 and 100, I would appreciate comments if it is okay or not, I can make a new version but I would like your opinion about these entries, I remind you that the robot is digital painting especially the face, I appreciate opinions on these entries to generate a second version.

No cartoons please. Need an illustration that creates associations to high-tech, Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, industrial applications, smart-homes. Not spooky or starwars stuff. Thanks!

A few OK entries and few hours to go. Please consider using a human like this one: https://goo.gl/images/ts1p8j rather than a face. Also a humanoid robot. A possible industry automation figure like: https://goo.gl/images/CM2HND. Thanks.

Hi all. Thanks. We are looking for an illustration, a composition made of pictures, maybe with graphics, illustrating the focus area of the research. Must be high tech, not cartoon-like robot e.g. And we are not looking for a logo.
