This project was a disaster in terms of communication. Mighty Mary had such a focus on timeliness (which is commendable) that she ignored my specific instructions that I was not worried about speed on this project and that she should complete an example of work for me to review before proceeding so I could confirm it was what I needed. This approach would have given us the opportunity to re-quote on the work before MM had committed too much time and would have meant it would be easy to cancel the contract if we couldn't agree. We were also heavily hampered by the fact that freelancer messages and file uploads often failed to post to the website which left both of us thinking we had said things that the other had not seen. It was a lesson for me in being more specific in the brief - I should have made the test run a condition of the contract rather than thinking we could negotiate such things on the fly.
