Highly Available AWS Architecture
Using AWS CloudFormation to orchestrate a Highly Available & Auto-Scalable/Failover system across Multiple AWS Regions. Here're the tools used. 1. VPC with public subnet using Internet Gateway and private subnet using AWS built in Nat Gateways. 2. Bastion in multi-AZ public subnet with Autoscaling. 3. ECS EC2 in multi-AZ private subnet with Autoscaling, 80 and 443 Accessible only via ELB. IAM Role attached. 4. ECS EC2 port 22 can only be accessed by Bastion using SSH forwarding 5. Database credentials are passed via docker env var mentioned in task def. 6. Classic ELB binded to Bastion to act as proxy for SSH forwarding. 7. Application ELB for ECS EC2 binded with AWS ACM for SSL 8. Aurora RDS with multi-AZ read replicas in private subnet. 3306 only accessible via ECS EC2. 9. Encryption At rest for RDS and EBS using AWS KMS
