This is what our server company said:
It is recommended that you check your listening service and firewall configurations. Your instance is accessible via the provided web console on your [login to view URL] portal:
You can run "netstat -uplnt | less" in order to verify that there are services listening on port (80/22/8080/etc). In order to check if a service is started, or having trouble starting, run: "service [servicename] status" where [servicename] is (httpd/sshd/mysql/etc). If the service is not running, you can start it with: "service [servicename] start" or "service [servicename] restart". You may also see output related to why the service is failing, as you run the 'start' and 'restart' commands.
To check firewall rules, use the "iptables -L" command. You may want to flush all rules from the chain with "iptables -F" for testing, and once you've adjusted your configuration, you can persist desired rule chains between reboots with "iptables-save".
It will be necessary to perform the above commands with a privileged user account (usually "root").
