OS Commerce Site updates & amends

• Registration The default OSCommerce system only allows customers that have registered and created an account to order products. We would like to simplify this so the customer only needs to enter details when checking out (of which some details will be mandatory including name, email address and address details). This includes allowing customers to add items to their shopping cart without already being registered. • Free samples When customers do register they can currently select which group of customers they belong to (Interior Designers, Architects etc), we want to be able to offer products at discounted prices to certain different groups of registered customers. Some groups will be offered products for free, if the total price for an order is zero the customer should bypass the payment system (PayPal) and have the order processed directly. • Mood Board – per session The website contains a custom mood board which allows customers to place products in a type of basket, add notes and upload images and pdfs for reference. All of this data is currently saved to the database and associated with the relevant customer, therefore currently the customer needs to be registered to use this service. We would like to change this so the customer can use all the functionality on a per session basis, however if they wish to save or revisit the mood board they must register. Once registered, the mood board can be saved and re-visited when the customer is logged in. • SEO H1 Tags Implement the correct and semantic H1 page tags on all pages of the site. Currently there are few <h> tags on any of the pages. • Add a strap line in html underneath the logo in the page header. • Script change to pages to help SEO (after the meta tags we have the content and handle the Scripts through an external file) Move all javascript into an external file or files and where possible load these files at the bottom of the page to help increase page load speeds.
