I have a Python program which takes nearly 30 option arguments on the command line. I need the program modifying to read the options from a .ini file, to be used if not subsequently overridden with command-line arguments. The standard Python ConfigParser module should be used for this, and a new command-line option provided to specify the .ini file to use. The output from the project will be a modified code base and an exemplary .ini file with all available options and short comments describing each one of them. While this is a simple task in itself, the developer will need to find their own way around the code base (there are 8,000 lines of Python, but most of this will be irrelevant). Although this is basic work, the code itself is a sophisticated mathematical modelling system in use by a national astronomical observatory. It is anticipated that further work will become available on this in the near future, particularly in the area of publication-quality graphics.

As you already mentioned, I'll review the code and change it so that it can read the parameters from the .ini file if there are no command-line arguments, My experience in the field is: 2.5 years Python, 3 years bachelor in applied physics, 5 years of programming (C ++, C #).
