LONG TERM REQUIREMENT:
I am envisioning a product that'd manage inventory of small business. The end user would be small business owner/retailer who is currently using manual ledgers to get his work done.
1. Need to provide form based interface for data input.
2. Reporting mechanism for e.g. number of products sold between a date range, no. of stocks left for a particular product etc
3. The tool should be scalable run time for e.g. shopkeeper can add new products/update prices etc
4. The tool should be desktop based and simplistic. We really dont want too much technicality so that it goes beyond understanding of basic computer literacy. For e.g. we don't want to build a tool on LAMP platform and push end user to new IT management tasks like hosting, server management etc
At this stage I am only looking for a PoC. (proof of concept/demo)
However, how this product would be technically implemented is yet to be decided.
Option 1 - Choose excel as a backend and design custom forms
Option 2 - Choose Access as backend and use infopath forms
HERE IS WHAT I EXPECT IN RESPONSE
a. tell me your understanding of this tool.
b. tell me tools/technologies you'd use to create this
b. share any examples of something similar you've done before
WHAT I'd DO
i. if your idea appeals to me, I would award this small project to you to get a poc done.
ii. poc would essentially include designing a form (based on technology you suggest) and making it to talk to backend (based on your suggestion)
i. if the POC works out well, I'd create a bigger project (around $1000) to get a complete product created.
