I have submitted a reference bid at this time. In order to verify that this is the appropriate bid for this project I would need additional information. Including:
- Genre
- Type of script e.g. TV, short, feature film
- Original story or modification of existing story
Generally for this type of project I break the work down into 3 phases.
1.) Story Generation
This phase is where the characters, their backstories and relationships, the locations and world that they are in are defined. The primary theme and conflict are defined. The initial outline is generated at this time.
This stage lasts longer for a new script. An adaptation of an existing story will vary a great deal depending on the background material provided. The proposed budget will inform this stage as well a low budget film will not have characters that rely heavily on special effects etc.
2.) Initial Draft
Taking the background work and writing out the story into a script. This duration varies primarily on how long the script is. A short maybe 5 days, a TV episode 7-10 days, a feature film 20-30 days.
3.) Revision
revising and rewriting the script provides the story with greater depth, complexity and sophistication. This will take at least the same as the initial writing phase and often 2-3 times as long. The end product of this is the final screenplay.
If you wish the screenplay to be prepared for shooting that requires additional work as the rewrites are done while working with the director.
