We're looking for a literary mind with strong command of grammar and style, and a great pedagogical toolkit for teaching reading and writing strategies to middle and high schoolers. Help us get kids engaged in school texts beyond just skimming/summarizing! Help us school them in the three A's: Annotation Skills Analytical Writing Appreciation for Literature Give them the tools they need to organize and clearly communicate their thoughts in academic writing. We cover all English and humanities subjects in middle and high school, including English and social studies, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP history classes, timed writing, DBQ's, college application personal statements, vocabulary development and English mechanics/conventions. You will work with students from 4th-12th grade in very small groups or one-on-one within a group "class" at our center. Your work will mostly center on their schoolwork, but we bring strategies and additional content/lessons in as needed.

I'm a 16-year teacher who has dealt with students aged 9+. In my last job at a language center, we included CLIL, TBL and PBL to engage our students. I'm committed, well-planned and create and design my materials based on the group profile. Definitely, I start up with a needs analysis so as to get familiar with each learner's linguistic and affective needs. I'm currently in my last part of my MA in Applied Linguistics and I'd love to put into practice all the strategies and techniques regarding reading, fluency and thinking skills. In my last job, teaching 6th graders (about 11-12 years old), we did many activities on Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of Mystery book.
