Use DNS to search for FQDN hostnames based on supplied hosts and domains

I need a script developed in few hours that can quickly iterate through a series of short hostnames (within a text file) and a list of potential domains (within another text file) to find a match for "A" records. Once a match is found, output it to stdout in the format of: [login to view URL] [ip address] For all failures, those are also listed - either in-line like: Fail: hostname or when the script is complete.. like: Failed: host1 host2 host3 The plan is, I give it hostnames foo bar foobar fubar It matches it with a domain list: [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] An example command and output would be.. [login to view URL] -h [login to view URL] -d [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] Fail: fubar Also, instead of [login to view URL], if omitted, uses stdin. dnspython library seems like an obvious library here, but if you can do it without requiring me to install additional libraries (make it self-contained) that is preferred. I will be doing hundreds of these lookups at a time, matching against 30 or so domains.. so performance is needed. quick optimization: validate against the last successful domain first rather than iterating through full domain list each time. I realize unix can change the search path in the [login to view URL] to accomplish the same thing, but I don't have that ability. I could try to hack something together, but I need to get this done ASAP so I can focus on other project work.
