OpenCV Rasberry Pi Python, corneal topography

I'm designing a project to convert an image of rings reflected on an eye into a false color map representing steepness. The program would first have to recognize the rings/contours, then convert the steepness of contour lines (how CLOSE they are together) into a color/heat map.
See the attached images and another example (search for placedo disc keratometry on google images)
Idea is when the rings are close to each other they get a warmer color, cooler if they are further apart. Should be fairly simple with openCV.
Thanks
