Code python for me (Raspberry Pico & MAX7219 matrix display)

I am trying to code a Raspberry Pico and MAX7219 together to work with some reed switches, to be able to display a number when each switch is activated, and then when the switch(s) is(are) off, the matrix would display the letter "N". Example: switch 1 active ==> the matrix display would display the number "1" switch 2 active ==> the matrix display would display the number "2" etc I tried programming it myself, however I'm brand new to any forms of programming, and have only done some basic Ardunio programming with lots of help from discord/google/reddit. What I'm trying to accomplish, is to make a manual 6 speed gear shifter display for a track car. I don't need anything fancy, just for it to display a gear number when a reed switch is activated (which I will be wiring separately from this request) I was looking through some code from FideliusFalcon, who did some work for something very close to what I'd like, linked below from reddit and github: [login to view URL] [login to view URL] I've included some images of the device's I have and the pinouts to them. I don't really care which pins of the raspberry pi Pico would be used, just need to know which pins activate the switches.
