This is a freelance position with a fee of £5,000 (based on approximately 15 days work to be undertaken between 1 October and 31 December 2015 plus commission, with the potential to extend the contract if successful.
**There is also a limited travel and expenses budget for the post holder.**
Sound and Music’s offices are based in Somerset House, London, and although this is a freelance position, some face to face meetings in central London will need to take place.

Our work includes composer and artist development, partnerships with a range of organisations, audience development, touring, information and advice, network building, and education.
We champion new music and the work of British composers and artists, and seek to ensure that they are at the heart of cultural life and enjoyed by many.
Two core ambitions of the current business planning period are to greatly increase the reach and impact of our activities; and to increase revenue earned. Therefore Sound and Music has begun to develop projects, drawing from its networks and intellectual assets, that have the potential to reach a much wider audience and/or to generate earned revenue. This work is overseen by a Commercial Subcommittee of Sound and Music’s Board that draws on the Board’s business and entrepreneurial strengths as well as bringing in external expertise.
Sound and Music now seeks a freelance Business Development Manager.
They will work closely with Sound and Music’s Chief Executive and members of the Commercial Subcommittee in getting creative ideas off the ground. This will include identifying, meeting and nurturing potential partners, developing project collateral, as well as project planning and management (using ‘agile’ type approach). We are looking for expressions of interest from people who have a track record in successful delivery of commercial partnership projects in the creative industries.
Key expectations of this post are as follows:
Attend Commercial Subcommittee meetings (c. 1 hour per month) in person or via conference call
Work with the CEO and members of Commercial Subcommittee to:Identify, approach and nurture prospective partners
Take projects from ideation into delivery
Develop project collateral including pitch decks
Plan project implementation including resource requirements
Project manage projects once off the ground
The post is time limited in the first instance but with the possibility of extension if successful.
