We need to highlight target keywords on a web page with a chrome extension. Included are very specific mock-ups of what we need and how it will function. CONFIG: Pressing the chrome extension button will open a GUI that where the user can add keywords, set a score and color. All values are saved until changed by the user. USAGE: When a web page is navigated to, the extension should look for each keyword combination. If a keyword is found, it should color the text with the configured color for that keyword. SCORE: All found keywords should be displayed in a movable window that displays the keyword counts and total score. The score should also show as a badge on the extension icon. In my 7+ years of work experience in this field, I have gained sound knowledge on various web technologies (Javascript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, Python, Django, Node.js). With the variety of chrome extensions I have developed during my career, I have gained good understanding of the Chrome Extension framework and its APIs, and I'm confident of implementing any type of extension with that knowledge I have gained. Technical Design proposal for your extension (I really liked the mock-up designs): 1. Using Chrome Extension's Content scripts, we can modify the HTML DOM of the page where we can highlight the keywords found. 2. To colour the found matched words/phrases, we can use native javascript or jQuery (preferable as jQuery gives lot of helpful Javascript APIs to play with the DOM, and it gives better code readability).
