This is a non-profit startup company with a lot of business understanding but only a a little technical knowledge.
The idea is to create a marketplace where demand and supply are brought together for short-term purposes to balance buyers' peak demand/delivery challenges and vendors’ occasional surplus/overcapacity. Both vendors and buyers have their main customers elsewhere but occasionally there are common interests. The market is sometimes busy and sometimes quiet and typically, the variation of products/services is very large. Number of both buyers and vendors is less than 100.
The user interface must be very light weight and easy to use with both a mobile and desktop. I have a domain and Wordpress installed already as well as Avada. I’m assuming most of the functionality can be created using free/low cost plug-ins.
About functionality: Buyers can create request of quotations, vendors can quote the requests or place open custom proposals without an request. A vendor must not be able to see if other vendors have made quotes or made other offers. So this is not auction type marketplace. The products/services in the marketplace are created case by case by either the buyer or the vendor. There are no standard products but only custom defined items. The marketplace operator does not create any products or services.
Once demand and supply meet, the case is closed and the buyer and the vendor will continue making the business transactions between themselves using their already existing business connections. So no webshop functionality in this request is needed.
A buyer must be able to set product/service attributes such as required time window, product category, volume, geographical area and due date for the quotes. A vendor can then create the quote accordingly. An open proposal should include a definitions of the product/ service, volume, product category, geographical area, price, time window, due date for the order to name the most important ones.
The vendor must be able to perform searches on requests and the buyer must be able to perform searches on proposals. The quotations must only be seen by the buyer who created the original request.
User registration and marketplace operators manual user verifications is needed. All functionality is available for registered and signed-up users only. Both buyer and vendor must be able to see their own activity and history. Email reminders and notifications are needed.
