We're looking for a WordPress plugin developer to work with us exclusively full-time on a 9 to 12-month project. The skills needed to help us with our application include:
- HTML and CSS
- StudioPress Genesis theme experience preferred
Since 2012, [login to view URL] has been a reliable source of Medicare insurance information for U.S. seniors and the disabled. Now MedicareWire has its eye on publishing healthcare provider information, too.
Our unique publishing platform was built for WordPress using MySQL tables outside of the standard WordPress environment. We want to take our methodology for publishing data-driven content at-scale, modernize it, make it useable by non-technical people, and build a highly flexible, new plugin.
The majority of our existing code is old-school procedural, not object-oriented. We want to throw it away and start over. We want fresh, easy-to-maintain, and easy to operate on the backend.
This is a long-term, on-going project. We're looking for someone to be on our team full-time for up to 12 months or longer.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience developing complex, database-driven applications for WordPress. If you are purely a front-end developer or web designer, please do not apply. You must have demonstrated knowledge of MySQL, complex SQL queries, PHP, object-oriented code design, the WordPress control panel, and importing large datasets via CSV.
Although most of the work will be backend, we want someone with front-end UI experience, as well. Show us your ability to create good-looking, interactive user applications in WordPress, and you will have our attention.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of the English language and be prepared to document all code. Code elegance is nice, but we prefer maintainability over being clever.
The successful candidate will be required to adjust their work schedule to our time zone (GMT-7 Mountain Standard Time) and to communicate through Zoom calls or similar technology. You will be part of a team, not an individual worker.
Project Time Frame:
The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running on or before 4 January 2021. We expect the plugin development phase of the project to last 60 to 90 days. When complete, you will transition into the implementation phase, helping us with customization on each implementation. There will be 18 to 21 implementations of the code on two different websites.
If you think you have the skills, and you can commit to a full year, tell us about your past experience and show us your past projects. We want to see examples of your work. Don't show us a website, show us an application that required you to use all of the skills we've listed above.
We look forward to meeting you!
