I have a dxf file that describe an opening in the wall with edges and level. I need someone to read the dxf, draw the opening, find the measurement for each edge, and if an edge is not level, draw and the actual
difference.
So, I think I need to add more details to describe the project. I also attach a sample dxf file (Step1.dxf). You use Step1.dxf file to create the rest of drawing using any dxf open source. I did a small Java prototype using Kabeja.jar API. Again, your API will receive a Step1.dxf as input and create the rest of files we create using AUTOCAD as an output.
1- Step 1: RAW date from our measurement system (Proline). This is the raw data we get from Proline after the physical measurement by the tech. As you see there are 2 lines one is Blue and the other one is white. White is what we actually need. So, Step1.dxf and Step1.jpg is the only files we have.

2- Step 2: In this step we transfer the Step 1 –RAW date to AUTOCAD and remove the Blue lines.
3- Step 3: Is still working on the AUTOCAD and we add the Red Lines. The Red lines are the new lines we add using the white lines as reference. Our goal here is to stay as close to white lines as possible without crossing the white lines. Outside of the white lines are the walls, ceiling and floor.
a. To Create the Red lines:
i. We need to be inside of the white lines.
ii. We need to be as close as possible to the white lines without crossing the white lines.
iii. We need to take the most outer points with our crossing the white lines to create the Red line that is straight. We can have outages, but the line must be straight.
4- Step 4: We remove all the white lines and left with the Red lines we crated. This is the data we need to use in our calculations and software. Basically from the actual opening dimensions we took which were the white lines we created the Red line which we can use for our own calculations.
5- Step 5: This step is to show the dimensions and details of the Step 4 in a technical method.
6- All Steps: Is just to show all steps next to each other to show the progress.
a. Step 1: Raw Data from Proline measurement tool.
b. Step 2: Raw data transferred to AUTOCAD and remove the blue lines.
c. Step 3: Add the Red lines as explained above.
d. Step 4: Remove white lines and have Red lines which are the actuall dimensions we will need to use in our calculations.
Our goal is to take the Step 1 – Raw Date and automatically calculate the output of Step 4 and Step 5. Basically we want to eliminate the CAD operators input which are Step 2 and Step 3 to calculate the Step 4 and Step 5.
So, As the input DXF is perfectly simple DXF expertise is not really
necessary to implement your solution. Any open source DXF lib like the one I listed above should be
able to read your step1.dxf, as it just contains lines and arcs. So what I am looking for is someone who is able to do a bit of simple 2D
geometry. The necessary steps as I see them at the moment are:
1. Remove unnecessary entities (most by layer, plus the horizontal and the marker line).
2. Connect the remaining entities (i.e LINEs and ARCs) into a polygon contour.
3. Using refined rules to create a simplified polygon inside the complex contour polygon. If it is clear how many lines may be used for this
inside polygon you'll just have to minimize the space between the two polygons.
4. Break this simplified polygon into lines and write them into the
target DXF (step4.dxf).
