Fix Comments module on PS version 1.6.0.9

I am currently running prestashop version 1.6.0.9, using the stock comments module. Recently the module stopped working. Specifically, when someone clicks "Submit" to submit the review, nothing happens, and the error is:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)
