I need help seting up an VPN between two networks I own. Both of them are lan gaming centers, both of them connected to internet with a 4mbit connection. Both networks have 30+ clients (W98) for gaming and 3 or more servers (Win2k/XP) for other purposes (management, storage, printing, q3/counter dedicated servers...). Both networks have basically the same setup now, all computers in the [login to view URL] range and named pcxx, servers are over [login to view URL], router is [login to view URL], same workgroup, 3com switches, etc. What I want to acomplish is to set up a VPN between both networks so: - More networks will be able to be added in the future, let's say network1 now will be [login to view URL] and computers named pc1-xx and network2 will be [login to view URL] and computers named pc2-xx - Traffic between both networks will be only the required, no unnecessary broadcasting of unneeded data between them wasting bandwidth. - Game servers have to be seen from both networks, a game going on on network1 has to be seen on network2 when going to a game's "lan games" menu. If this does produce some nice traffic, I'd like to know about it. - All functions of a network must be there like if all the computers were on a local network, file sharing, printer sharing, but some things also have to be shared only locally (let's say, I don't want anyone on network1 printing on a network2 printer, or I want some game's dedicated server on network1 to be visible only to users on network1, or I want a computer on network1 named \\hiddencomputer to stay invisible to the users on network2) - Both networks can reach each other 24h a day (ideally), there's no dialing up or anything like that needed. - Encryption is not a main concern since no sensitive data has to go through the VPN, but of course it is always welcome. All this set up ideally should be done using only software solutions, either Windows or Linux. I've got some spare P2-350 64Mb that can be dedicated to this if they are enough or will work, might not be enough power if the solution is under Windows but should be under Linux. Free is better than shareware, which is better than commercial. I'd rather pay someone who will help me set up a free VPN than pay someone plus pay for a software. I have no experience at all with VPN but more than enough with computers and networks to manage this, but I'd rather have someone help me out starting since I have no time for researching on the subject.
