Single magnetic read head to be used to suppy info to 2 circuits

Hi guys, i have 2 devices that need a reading from a magnetic stripe card. I cut the wires that go to the magnetic reader head and attached the corresponding wires so as to make 1 common head reader insead of two. Kinda like a Y cable. 1 2 Y head note: these two devices work totally idependent of eachother (different power sources etc). I just need to make it so they have the same reader head. In theory what I expected to happen, was the reading goes to both the devices. And it does, the problem is that on one of the devices the reading shows "error - please swipe again" most of the time. On a rare occasion, when i swipe it at a slower speed the reading comes out fine. If i attach the same head on each device seperatly it works perfectly. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
