The goal is to create a user-friendly, cross-browser web application framework, including user authentication, group permission management, MySQL database support, and protected content.
As a rough example of how the Framework can be used, three simple "Features" will be implemented, including back-end management for each feature. Once the framework has been completed and tested, these examples will be expanded in future projects:
"Home Message" page, with admin-editable HTML message
Tabbed interface, with admin-editable HTML content
[login to view URL] "dashboard", with admin-editable content
The Framework will make use of PHP, MySQL, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery where appropriate, and the Gridster dashboard for the last Feature. All code should be clear, make use of functions and/or classes where appropriate, and be very well commented.
It should include a wizard-type "installer" script which is capable of installing on either an Ubuntu LAMP or in Windows uWAMP (see section 5 below), and should reasonably support the following browsers:
~ Mozilla Firefox
~ Google Chrome
~ Apple Safari
~ Apple iPad and iPhone native browsers
~ Android native browser
