design and build a simple website

Task: You are required to design and build a simple website on a topic specified below using any appropriate software (e.g. FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Notepad++, EditPlus or any open source software). Together with the website you will be required to submit a report. Requirements: 1. Properly titled 5 pages (or more) including Home page and interactive (clickable) Site map 2. Text and images (at least one) where appropriate. Make sure that text and images are properly sized and formatted, and fit to web sites overall design. 3. The layout of the pages should be neatly made up into tables or blocks. 4. The website should be neatly formatted using CSS. You have to make your own CSS styles and comment on them in the code. 5. Simple JavaScript functions should be used to add some dynamics or/and special effects to the website, e.g. banners, slideshows, dynamic menus. Comments in HTML code should be written for all functions. 6. One page should include a visible table of at least 2x2 cells which includes some tabular data. Each table cell must contain either text or an image. 7. The website should include at least 5 external links opening in new window. 8. The website should include a hyperlink to webmaster’s email address. 9. Well-coordinated and clearly signposted navigation scheme – so from any of the pages you can access Home page, Site map or any other major section of the website, and not stuck on any of the pages. You can design you web-site based on one of the following topics: The fastest cars - Funny stories from history -The most interesting places of the world - The most successful companies - Genius people - Lessons on Animation/Photoshop/HTML - Study skills for university students - Catalogue of schools, lyceums and universities of Uzbekistan - Sport in Uzbekistan - Entertainment in Tashkent - Computer Games - Fitness - Music styles - Coming movies of 2014 - The Psychology of relationships - Life hacks Note: the site must have sensible content (you must reference your sources if you use content from other web sites), i.e. the pages must have some meaning, and must not be crude, offensive or defamatory. Some recommendations:  Use simple backgrounds - Text layered over complex or busy backgrounds is difficult to read  Use web-safe fonts, preferably sans serif - Sans serif fonts, such as Arial, Helvetica or Verdana, are easier to read on screen than serif fonts, such as Times New Roman.  Resize and compress images in your pages, so the web page gets loaded fast.  Test how your web pages render in Internet Explorer and one of the modern web browsers: Google Chrome, Opera or Mozilla Firefox. The Report (3-5 pages) (see distribution of the marks below) 1. Brief introduction – what software you have used in order to create your website and why. What is your website about? (5 marks) 2. Page Sketches – a sketch of each of the page that has a distinct layout, showing the layout itself, design and linking. You can draw sketches by hand or with appropriate software. Screenshots are NOT allowed. Marks are awarded for accurate drawings and presentation. 3. Your favorite site – write a paragraph about the site you frequently use and like, explain why you use it and what you like in it. Comment on site design and usability. 4. Code clarification – Associate code and text, i.e. write a clear explanation of how the following parts were implemented (part of the code followed by detailed explanation): a. Navigation b. CSS c. Java script 5. Conclusion – what did you learn while doing this coursework? What was the easiest part of your work and what was the hardest one? How would you i mprove this website if you had more time and skills? 6. Bibliography. This section usually includes all the references if they are used in the report, and a list of the websites, books, journals etc. that you have accessed while preparing the work.
