I am looking for an artist to paint a speculum for me. A speculum is a device used by an OBGYN doctor for examination. My wife is an OBGYN and I would love to have a plastic speculum custom painted (for display purposes, would obviously never actually be used). The device is plastic and small (can also be metal if that's easier). I'm still working on what I want the design would look like. I was just wondering if this would be plausible, as I am the farthest thing from a painter myself. Attached is an image of an unpainted device.

Hello, I'm from Jacksonville and work in media production. I'd paint your device with a gravity-fed sprayer (as used for film or stage props, scenery, etc.) with any added detail by hand, if needed. While the plastic version would work, the paint would separate over time--the more it's handled, the faster the peeling would occur. So, I'd recommend painting the metal version. I will be coming to Gainesville to see friends over the holidays, so could pick up the speculum then, if it worked with your schedule. How soon do you need it?
