A memoir of four years in the U.S. Army, 1966 to 1970. The story of a young enlistee who trains for war only to learn it to be insufficient when faced with reality. As a helicopter gunship crew chief and door gunner, the experiences from his first year-long tour were quite different from his second tour. The social, political and cultural influences were quite different from his first to his second tour. He returns home to a nation that no longer cared about the veteran's experiences and survival.
