I'm looking to at putting together ant Arduino project. The first part is to guide me on what pieces to purchase, the second on how to put it together, and the third to code it to do what I wish. I've already purchased 2 Wemos D1 Mini's. Perhaps they are what I need or not, still not sure. I wish to measure the presence of voltage in a wire and have it record when there is presence, timed to the second. I don't care about the actual voltage number. I'd like this uploaded to a website (I have a webserver) and would like calculations be done on the data, specifically the run time multiplied in seconds by a number (based on what type of system is running), and the ability to select a time frame and have that calculation run on it. I specifically need to know what is the best power supply. I have a 110v source in a junction box that contains a switch. I've seen switch/USB combos but they are about $35 and I'm hoping to keep the project as inexpensive as possible as I will hopefully make several. What board and products will I need to buy.. What to use to detect the presence of voltage (or amps) in the wire. The coding to run everything The ability to connect to the wifi. The connection to a web portal to record, store, and run calculations on the data. Knowledge on any other parts I may have overlooked.

Hello, I see you want to measure voltage from a wire. This can be done using analog input of wemos d1 mini. i also use wemos d1 mini for my own project. Is the voltage is high ac voltage or dc voltage? for ac voltage, you may need a ac voltage sensor. For dc voltage, the board able to measure up to 3,3v. For dc voltage above 3,3v you need a voltage divider circuit. I can help you setup the board and all parts and write the codes. Do you have the wiring diagram? lets discuss the details on chat. Dear Sir, I would like to present my self as prospective candidate to do your project. I have sound knowledge on Arduino, WiFi Programming using ESP8266 (The Wemos D1 Mini) and Electronics. I have question on your Project. In description you wrote 'presence of voltage', You don't need to measure exact voltage ? And what voltage it might be ? Value (12V, 110V, 230V ?) and Direction (AC, DC ? ) Because depending on that factors sensing circuit may differ. Regarding power supply for circuit, you could use a 5V power supply to power it. Most probably a Tablet Power supply, where current output is around 1A. If you are monitoring same power source going to power up system, you will most probably need back up power. Hi! To be honest, I don't have wemos D1, but since it is Arduino compatible it should not be a big deal. I will test everything with regular Arduino (it is arduino Uno with integrated WiFi chip), then test in your environment. Let's discuss your needs in chat!
