Lab 4: Formatting with Cascading Style Sheets.
Go to the textbook website and follow the Lab Download link and save the
two images and the two HTML documents to your Lab 4 folder.
Open Notepad. Open the files you downloaded and begin applying the CSS
rules as stated below.
You must make a web page that contains each of these items:
Apply an inline style to change the background color of the heading
size 1 in the [login to view URL] file to a color other than white.
Apply an embedded style to change the background color of the
unordered list [login to view URL] file to a color other than white.
Create an external style sheet.
Link the external style sheet to both HMTL documents.
Change the background of both files to a color other than white and
the text color to a color other than black and a different color from the
inline and embedded styles. (external style)
Change the default color for all normal, unvisited links. (external style)
Change the default color for all visited links. (external style)
Apply at least two rules to change the appearance when you hover
over all hyperlinks. (external style)
Change the background color of all blockquotes to a color other than
the background color. (external style)
Change the default characteristics of all address elements to be
aligned centered on the page and to be normal instead of italics.
(external style)
You will need to save your .txt file as a .css file. If you do not know how to
do this, refer to your notes. The name of your file must be in the format
yourinitialslastfourofyour CWID_lab4.css. For example: Name John
Doe. CWID: 123456789. Your file name: [login to view URL] Remember to
save this file in the Lab 4 folder that you created. Also, the four files you
downloaded should already be in this folder.
Once you have completed your web page, view it in a browser to make sure
it looks the way you want it to look. This is also the time to check to make
sure your image loads in the web page.
Go to Assignments on your Blackboard homepage. Upload both of the .htm
files and all three of the image files to Assignment 4. Be sure to upload all
FIVE files. When you finish click the Submit Assignment button.
Caution: Your file will not be graded if it is not about the specified
topic. You will receive a -10 points deduction (plus the deductions in
the rubric), if your do not upload your image.
