Transcription or Proofreading

I will have multiple one-on-one interviews to transcribe in the next few months. If you have experience, foot pedals, a high-speed Internet connection, high quality headphones, Microsoft Word, type at least 55 words per minute and know when to put commas between independent clauses, I’d like to hear from you. The ability to learn from feedback I provide is a must. I would also like to find someone to handle proofreading which pays more. For proofreading, you must have above-average ability to punctuate correctly (that means knowing the difference between a dependent and an independent clause and when and when not to type a comma), to spell, and to do Internet research to verify names, etc. There will most likely be some weekend work required. It’s important that I be able to have frequent email or chat contact with transcribers. In your response, please tell me your per audio minute rate for two or three speakers and good to fair quality audio. Also, tell me what days and hours you are usually available and how many other providers you regularly do work for. I will ask transcribers to complete two three-minute test transcripts. I will provide guidelines to help ensure success. For those who are applying as proofreaders, I will ask you to listen to the audio and correct two short transcripts. For most people, it is probably better to start out as a transcriber and then transition into proofreading. Thank you in advance for your interest.
