To create some code for a PIC micro to create an 8-channel pulse counter IC. Where each channel has a 32bit counter. The counters should be read/reset via a Serial/Modbus interface. There should be 2 minor revisions of code 1) RS485 serial ASCII interface and 2) standard Modbus RTU interface.

Hi, Thank you for posting such an interesting job. I will use serial interface and modbus for reading/resetting or may be trigger enabling/disabling (if needed) the counters. Whats the max frequency that these interface will be used for counting ? Please share more details and I am assuming that I need to assist you in developing the schematic as well. Hi, I'm experienced programmer. I've done many projects based on different PIC MCU's. Some of them were sports chronometers realising precise time measure. I've got Pickit-3 in case there would be necessity of testing on a real device. But I don't think there will be such a need. I'd like to know what are the possible timings of inputs, what MCU, what OSC clock. Are there any interface protocols already specified or I could specify them. I would prefer C, but if necessary some parts or all in assembler is acceptable.
