Hello Everyone (Only for Indians)
Please follow all the instructions below as a failure to do this will automatically fail your trial.
We hire contract transcriptionists with the following attributes:
Experience - ideally a minimum of one year experience in professional English audio transcription, preferably as a freelancer. We love our team and we want to keep you around, but we absolutely support your working elsewhere or being a busy Mum, and working for yourself is a lifestyle that takes some getting used to.
Time Management - we must be able to rely upon you for returning transcripts on time, every time. We do not put up with time-wasters. You are also required to correct your own work if you turn in poor transcripts with many easy mishearings, incorrect formatting, etc. We look for a minimum commitment of 5 hours audio per week (however, you can set your own availability to complete your work in your own time - as long it is delivered on time!)
Multi-skilled - we can give the most work to transcribers who can transcribe verbatim, focus groups, understand poor quality audio, handle foreign accents, and follow instructions for medical/legal/complex template work.
Research - you MUST be adept in using basic search engines such as Google, et cetera, to check names and terms that come up in your transcripts.
Language - English grammar, punctuation and spelling has to be a very high standard. English has to be your first language. In addition, we are an Australian company with primarily Australian clientele, so you will ideally be able to understand Australian colloquiums and place names.
Speed - speed is of course less important than accuracy! However, if you are new to transcription then you should be aware that a solid average transcriptionist would complete this trial in less than 20 minutes.
INSTRUCTIONS
Transcript must be in Word .doc format.
Although most of our transcripts are “clean”, this trial has to be typed exactly as recorded (i.e. “verbatim”).
At the top of the trial transcript please put:
The time taken to complete the trial.
Your area/s of expertise, e.g. interviews, focus groups, legal, academic, finance, other languages (which ones), accents (which ones), etc. No need to give your full resume as we will request this if you are successful.
How many audio hours per week you can commit to.
Where you live, your nationality and whether you hold an ABN.
Confirmation of equipment - i.e. I have/will get ...
To transcribe audio, you will need at least Express Scribe (free from NCH Software). You can program hot keys for temporary/infrequent use but we recommend getting a foot pedal for frequent work. Other great programs include InqScribe, WavePad, FTR, and others. This link takes you to a bundle deal (not affiliated with us in any way), which includes Express Scribe Pro (which opens more file types than the free version). [login to view URL]
P.S. Please save your work with your complete name.
Good Luck !
