Hello!
I am a professional children's author, ghostwriter and copywriter with a small editing firm on the side. I realized a long time ago that having a great story to tell doesn't guarantee that you have great grammatical skills or a dictionary inside your head. I started helping friends with their books and articles and eventually began to work for other authors, as well. I have a sharp eye for errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation, and ear for the flow of language and over a decade of classroom teaching experience in the elementary and early childhood classroom. I have read a LOT of children's books and know what they like.
I have also ghostwritten over two dozen published books and have a four book series of my own due out this spring with Little Pearl Books. They've asked for another four to make an eight book collection, but I'm turning my eyes toward the self-publishing market for a while. I am in the process of converting three of my children's stories to Kindle format and getting the cover art together, putting together a marketing strategy, etc.
I'm super excited about the potential of the self-publishing market at this time. The research I've conducted shows that the average sales for a traditionally published book is only about 20% higher than those of a self-published eBook, and royalties are much lower. With good marketing strategies in place, sales are much higher in the eBook market. It's super hot right now for kid's books.
I will edit your book and format it for Kindle (and Nook, if you wish) for $100. I use MS Track Change for editing, which leaves the final approval of any change in your capable hands. I do my best to never intrude on the writer's voice and style.
I've been putting other people's books to eBook format for about three years, but hadn't taken the plunge myself until recently. (Old dogs, new tricks ...) I guarantee a clickable TOC that works every time, images that don't float around like naughty ghosts on the page and 'go to' hash marks that allow a little reader to cruise back and forth to their favorite parts over and over again. My work is completely guaranteed - I am not done until you are happy, regardless of the reason. I recently had a client who decided to change the font size in his TOC after the work was completed and I had been paid. I changed it at no charge. My goal is for you to be satisfied with my work and for your book to sell.
I've just completed a graphics design course targeting eBook cover art. I was an art minor in college, but that was a while back. This course was fascinating and really showed me how to put a classic cover together for a fraction of what others may charge. I will throw in a cover for an additional $10. You'll have the say in the theme of the cover, of course, and I'll show you 6-8 options you can choose from. This is NOT required for me to edit and format your book, of course.
I'd also be happy to share marketing tips and strategies with you at no cost.
Thank you for taking the time to review my proposal. I haven't worked here on Freelancer, so I don't have feedback yet. I hope that you'll give me a chance to change that. :)
I look forward to working with you soon,
Debora Dyess
