I need a simple circuit designed so that when a TEP (Peltier) module that is heated on one side and cooled on the other, resulting a variable DC current and voltage output, I wish all the resulting electrical energy to be captured by a group of small UltraCapacitors (acting as a battery) and then discharged slowly in order to illuminate a small low powered LED light. Perhaps the source can feed the super caps in parallel and discharge them in series. (probably need diodes separating them) The idea would be that the LED would glow while the TEP module is being heated, but also that the extra energy is being stored in the super caps so that when the TEP module is no longer being heated, the LED would continue to glow for as long as possible. I would like to use 2.7v Ultracapacitors of anywhere between 1 Farad and 100 Farad, ideally two or three of them in total. The resulting circuit should be able to be manufactured in quantity for less than $10.

I place bid according to you requirements. But what do you think about BQ25570? It receive more energy from TEP because BQ25570 works at maximum power point (MPP). BQ25570 cold-start voltage: VIN ≥ 330 mV. Designing device with BQ25570 will be slightly expensive - 220. Different applications in area of alternative energetics are interesting for me.

Hi, You sounds interesting. I would suggest to add a uP to PWM the LEDs. The leds consume quite some energy, but our eye can't understand if they are flickering in high frequency (look at TVs/Screens). By placing a uP, you can have the LEDs blinking 64 times per seconds at max bright, at 1KHz. You would save 93% of energy :) The uP itself can be chosen and programmed to use utra low power. Consuming even less than the LEDs. I understand there is no on/off switch? It can be easily added. Depending on the energy you would like to store while the peltier is connected, the caps are to be dimensioned. Filipe
