I was a reporter for the Olean Times Herald, Olean, NY. I was a general beat reporter as well as photographer and proofreader. Additionally, I was an editorial assistant, copy writer, journalism and photojournalist for the Newark Post, Newark, Delaware.
I have had work published in the American Poetry Anthology and the Buffalo Evening News, Buffalo NY, in addition to being included in the "Who's Who in Poetry". I have a book of poetry credited to me under the pseudo name Julia Kemp, titled "53 Miles Home", which was published in August 2007. Furthermore, in October 2010, I had my first children's work published, "Shadow's Ruckus", under the pseudo name Julia Sampson-Kemp.
I hold an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in English and Philosophy. I also have more then ten (10) years professional and practical experience in the writing field. Additionally, I had taught a poetry series for Ms. Cole's Fourth Grade class at Franklinville Elementary School, Franklinville, NY. Previously, I was a Substitute Teacher and Teacher's Aide for the Franklinville and Allegany-Limestone central school districts.
I was employed with Waldenbooks, first as a bookseller in Buffalo, NY, then as a manager of a million dollar store in Clay, NY.
