The proposed tool would either be standalone or integrated as an extension into ArcMap/ArcGIS 9.0 or higher.
Essentially, we develop digital elevation models of water depth in reservoirs from point data.? From those point data we develop digital elevation models of the lake bottom, either as raster or TIN models.? The challenge, for which we require a solution, is creating tables of area and volume (in acre-feet) for each 0.1-foot of elevation, and cumulative area and volume, from the bottom of the reservoir to the top.?
Typically, our input to this process? would be? a raster file (GRID or TIF) in UTM coordinates (horizontal), with? vertical measurements in feet or meters of? elevation above sea level.? ? ? A sample input file can be provided to the developer for use in deeveloping the application.
The desired application would generate several tables in txt, dbf, or csv format:
1)? Area of the lake, in acres? at each increment of 0.1 ft elevation, beginning with the bottom of the lake (lowest Z value);
2)? ? Volume? of the lake, in acre-feet,? at each increment of 0.1 ft elevation, beginning with the bottom of the lake (lowest Z value);
3)? Cumulative area of the lake, in acres,? at each increment of 0.1 ft elevation, beginning with the bottom of the lake (lowest Z value);
4)? ? Cumulative volume? of the lake, in acre-feet,? at each increment of 0.1 ft elevation, beginning with the bottom of the lake (lowest Z value);
Sample tables can be provided.?
