CMS RSS Creator & Parser

Knowledge of RSS is required, not just how the XML looks/works but how to cache and handle updates. Part I RSS Feed Creator I have a CMS that allows designers to create "plug-ins". A plug-in is a list of fields and their types (similar to a db table) and the templates to display them. For example someone may have a classifieds plug-in may have 5 fields title, contact, price, description, image. A product plug-in may have thumb image, detailed image, name, short description, long, etc.. I need addition to this plug-in function to create RSS feeds from plug-in data. For example the user can create a classifieds RSS feed from the data in the classifieds plug-in. The process will be a.) Select a plug-in b.) Name your feed (unique names) c.) Select fields from plug-in to use (text or image fields) d.) Save A start has alread been made here. [login to view URL] The feed should be available from /smc/rss/NAME where NAME is the name of the feed created. Need to take into consideration whether the rss should be generated on every requests or cached until the data updates. Part II RSS Feed parser Completly seperate of part I related only that it is RSS. Want a PHP script that takes a URL for an RSS feed, determines whether the feed needs to be downloaded or if a recent local copy can be used, parse it into simple arrays that will eventually be passed to Smarty for display. For example $rss[title] $rss[ur] $rss[items][0] (contains x item) $item[title] $item[description] $item[enclosure] (image) This is a simple parser that may already exists, using a free version of one is ok if copyright is in place. Will require NDA before showing any code/db schemas. Will send URL to demo CMS on request. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional souce. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
