Client-server connection for video transmission using JMF

We require a client-server system on Java (Java Media Framework)with a media player (which we already have)serving as the client part that requests and gets video clips from the server. Several short videos will be on the server and we want the client to be able to choose from them and play them while being able to recognise the existence of errors, jitter and delays with the additional ability to request the re-transmission of key frames. The videos will be categorised by content type and the user will be able to set maximum values for delays, jitter and errors. Our current player can play videos from a local location but does not connect to a server and does not recognise the existence of the aforementioned errors. We worked on an RTP solution for the connnection but the existent documentation is insufficient for our programming skills. The original project specification is the following: Perceptual Considerations for Quality of Service Management: An Integrated Architecture Brief description of problem to be tackled: Build a distributed MPEG video player geared towards perceptual considerations in the delivery of multimedia. The approach adopted in this project will be to use an already developed integrated architecture that makes use of the objective-technical information provided by the designer and the subjective-perceptual information supplied by the user for intelligent decision-making in the construction of communication protocols. Thus, this approach incorporates not only classical Quality of Service considerations, but, indeed, user preferences as well. Furthermore, in keeping with the task-dependent nature consistently identified in multimedia scenarios, the suggested communication protocols will also take into account the type of multimedia application, which they are transporting. ## Deliverables Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. Complete copyrights to all work purchased. We require working programs and source code for the following: - Server - Connection between server and client (media player) - Detection of errors, delay and jitter on the part of the player with subsequent request of re-transmission of erroneous frames ## Platform Java Media Framework API (JMF 2.1.1) ## Deadline information Delivery of the project in phases is not only acceptable but highly desirable
