Grasshoppa MVP development\r\nWho we are?\r\nWe are community driven, peer-to-peer delivery service for small items, enabled by mobile technology.\r\nBasically people want and need items delivered. There is a huge number of people who are willing to pay a premium to get things from convenient stores [local neighborhood stores, CVS, 7/11, Walgreens] delivered. \r\nWe are solving the problem of the student who doesn\\\'t want to trek across campus in the snow to get necessary supplies. These people are unable or unwilling to leave their house, workplace or location to buy these goods, due to time or energy required.\r\n\r\nWhat we are trying to develop?\r\nThe ultimate Grasshoppa version will be a mobile app that connects students who want to order goods with those who are willing to deliver goods. In order to reach our goal we will begin with a basic beta prototype of an SMS web service. The central SMS service will communicate the ordering details to people who are willing to deliver. \r\n\r\nTechnical Details\r\nWe are looking to implement the central SMS service by using an API integration with a web sms application like Twilio or Nexmo message. We have chosen to use Ruby on Rails as a backend language to develop our web application. The main tasks that need to be carried out are: \r\n1- Finalize the MVC framework for our Application and decide on the needed data structure (the authentication step for signing up users has already been mostly developed)\r\n2- Fully integrate the SMS API and set up a basic algorithm to send and receive messages (where most of the work needs to be done now)\r\n3- It is preferable that a BDD (Behavior Driven Development) approach to be taken to develop the application and more importantly to develop a good data analysis platform based on PostgreSQL used by Heroku to measure performance metrics. (next steps)\r\n4- Finally successfully deploy our prototype and get people to sign up.
