I'm interested in building an app along the lines of Couchsurfing, but only for Indian MBA students going on an exchange programme.
Here is the idea :
Every year around 1000 MBA students from India go on student exchange - mainly to Europe and mainly to travel around.(approximately 70% of the 3 months in Europe is spent on travelling)
Couchsurfing as you might know, is a website which allows people all over the world to share a "couch" with a traveller - a place where a traveller can crash the night without having to rent a hotel or a [url removed, login to view] host gets to meet people from all over the world and the guest gets free accomodation.
Now,the problem with Couchsurfing is that one has to apply/ask permission from the host on the Couchsurfing [url removed, login to view] are high chances that the host rejects the application, hence the need to send out multiple requests - sometimes 15-20 just for a single night's stay- which is quite cumbersome.I tried couchsurfing when i was on exchange in europe..and it didn't work.
Instead, if the network of hosts comprises of only couches of indian exchange students, getting accomodation should be simpler since there is a higher degree of trust between indian students, and there is a 90% chance that if the host has space free in her house, she will allow a fellow exchange student to bunk for a night or two (provided she is not travelling herself). This way, Indian travellers get to save a substantial amount on hostels.
I hope i've made the idea clear.
I need someone who can design an app - which can handle around 1000 users, help schedule visits, help its users to navigate to an address, and maybe have something of a rating mechanism too.
Please let me know if you would be interested in taking up this project.
Looking forward to hear from you!
