we have a small web application that is an important asset for our company. The app is written in PHP. We have 2 servers from different providers. One server is in US, another server is in Italy. Currently the web application is mounted on the US server. The web app is reached by pointing the browser to a domain like [login to view URL] Every night a script copies the database of the web app to the italian server. In this way, even if the US hardware crashes, data will be preserved. We would like to copy the whole application to the italian server and to create a new domain, like [login to view URL] The new domain will point to the alternate instance of the web app. When trying to reach the alternate instance of the web app, the user should see a page saying: 'this server is not currently in use. Please reach [login to view URL] In case of need, we should be able to quickly start the alternate web app. This means of course that instead of the greeting page, the regular app should start. When the emergency ends, we should be able to quickly reverting the operation: now the greeting page is displayed and the users are invited to reach the original site. The opposite goes for [login to view URL] : in case of need we should be able to setup a greeting page etc. Any better solution is welcome. The selected coder will work together with a technician here until the solution is fully operative. Database is Firebird 1.5 . This database service is already running on the target (italian) server
