BACKGROUND:
Our client wants custom cosmetics on a form <select> element.
CSS styling is not normally available for select boxes, but we found a jQuery workaround that gives the appearance of custom cosmetics. You can see this at [url removed, login to view]
The workaround appears to be do what we want, but the problem is associated with the options in our drop-down menu.
Our menu names are longer than the visible space available in the text field so the menu items overlap the arrow.
To see what I mean, select from the dropdown to one of the longer names.

WHAT WE NEED:
We need the code that allows us to display a list of the full program names when clicking the drop-down arrow.
But when user selects one of the items, it displays in a truncated forms with ellipses (…). Please see attached graphic -- [url removed, login to view] -- to show the desired effect.
