Project Description

My art poster blog is very picture oriented and constantly updated with new material. Over time, my website is incurring overcharge fees on my web host (Media Temple) due overage use of my GPUs (Grid Performance Unit).

Lately, it has become out of control. One significant drain on my GPU are these mysterious links that I did not create, but is receiving very heavy traffic:

Links found are as follows:

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

These links all go to a "404 page not found" page on my website.

I NEVER created these links, nor do I know the source of them. I was instructed to create actual favicons for these links in order to reduce the waste in heavy processing power in generating 404s.

However I do not know how to do this or to put the actual favicons into those links so they do not show up as 404s anymore and just as small icon files. Please help.

In addition, I would like a website expert to look over my website to see if there are any other ideas that I can do to reduce the heavy GPU use of my site. Recently I have begun to block some IPs that are hitting my site hard and throttling other crawlerbots.

Please advise.

Attached is a screenshot of my GPU usage report so you can see that these apple favicons are generating 404s and killing my website in overage charges. Also attached is the desired favicon if applicable.
