Project Description

In Excel or a user-friendly format, I need a report card that has comments generated from multiple-choice inputs from instructors. Ideally, the multiple choices should be on the same page as the output box with comments, but hidden from the print view so that instructors can see their choices in real-time, but parents will see only the output.

Each student will have his/her own report card. Administrative staff will input the student's name and gender. Then, the instructor will select one or more choices in various categories about the student's performance.

The system will need to edit the words that I highlighted in green (which are the student’s name and gender pronoun such as he/his/him) depending on the name and gender input. The system will also need to automatically fill in connecting words based on the instructor’s choices. Red sentences indicate a negative comment while blue statements indicate a positive one. There are different connecting words to be used based on the combination of positive & negative statements.

· For example, if the first part of the sentence that the instructor chooses is negative, but the second part is positive, the system should use the contrasting word “but”. However, if both parts of the sentence are the same tone (both negative or both positive), the system should choose “and”.

The system should allow the instructor to change his choice as many times as he wants without messing up the output.

If the format will not be in an excel file, it should be a component that can be added to our existing excel files.

The instructors should be able to manually edit any part of the output.
