Hi,
I have done muffler CFD analysis for many years. I have over 15 years of experience in CFD and expert in fluid mechanics, and aeroacoustics.
I am very familiar with transmission loss of muffler using CFD.
Although both transmission loss and backpressure can be done in CFD, the former one requires transient sine-wave simulation and later one requires only steady-state solutions. Therefore, the price of running transmission loss prediction would be higher due computational cost. My bid includes both transmission loss and backpressure.
It is also important to provide what is your expected critical attenuated frequencies generated from noise source for your designed muffler. CFD should be good at 500Hz prediction range. However, high frequencies attenuation also depends on whether sound absorption materials are used or not in the muffler.
Porosity sensitivities can be simulated with fine mesh to account for the sound attenuation effect and therefore higher computational cost with higher porosities. But I can turn-around the solutions very efficiently using power HPC resources.
If you find my background and knowledge fit to your project needs, I would be delighted to speak with you and build a long-term working relationship how I can support you for muffler design and simulation using CFD approach.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
Regards,
Peter
