I’m looking for someone who help me extract database information from the web and from pdf documents and reform and reformat that data to be placed into columns in an excel spreadsheet for a subsequent mail merge. One source is from the web: [url removed, login to view] On this website there are two options for data: “State and County” and “Probation”. I need the data from the “State and County”. Each day, I go to this website and get the data from the “State and County” report. Incidentally, this report contains a list of every person who was arrested in this county for each particular day. I need a program or whatever function you deem appropriate to grab the specific data I need from the report, and organize and place it into columns in an excel spreadsheet.
Specifically, the data I need is as follows: 1) the full name of the arrested person; 2) the full mailing address of the arrested person; 3) the level of criminal charge the person was arrested for; 4) the name(s) of each specific crime the arrested person was charged with; and 5) the status of the person’s case. I would like this information placed into columns in an excel spreadsheet as follows: 1) first name; 2) last name; 3) street number and street name; 4) city; 5) state; 6) zip code; 7) level of charge (i.e. class a, b, or c misdemeanor or 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree felony or state jail felony); 8) name of crime charged with; and 9) status of case.
The second form of databases I need to do the exact same thing from are the attached reports. These reports are emailed to me daily in pdf format. I need the exact same thing from them.
I then sort and filter through this data and put it into a mail merge so I can send solicitation letters to these people to represent them as their attorney in the specific crime they are charged with. I already process the mail merge myself, but would be interested in further discussing the automation of this entire process if you’re interested in additional work.
I used to have a program that not only downloaded all the foregoing data from the appropriate places (web and e-mail attachment for the pdf documents), but it stopped working. It also did the data refining in excel and completed the mail merge with only two or three keystrokes by me to do all of this (as opposed to the tiedious sorting and refining I do by hand in excel). If you can help me with a program to do all this automatically, I would like to receive a bid on that too (I understand that might cost more than what I am proposing above).
