If you view my profile you will see that I registered with Freelancer in February this year and I have 20 reviews, all positive. English is my first language and my skills include technical writing, transcribing, editing and proofreading. My ongoing freelance work includes editing papers for an online journal for translators and interpreters. I recently edited a 65,000-word science fiction novel and the client was very satisfied with the result. Other recent work has included rewriting a 24,500-word book to change it from a children's book to one suitable to be read by adults, and the result was described by the client as "perfect". A second book for this client, this time 35,000 words, restructuring the chapters as well as proofreading the content, was also "perfect". (These jobs were via Elance.) For two years I was a copy editor for Elsevier Science Publishers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, rewriting text by authors who were not native English speakers. I have worked with individual clients to bring 11 books to publication. Having been a teacher of English in high school for several years, I have spent many hours making corrections and suggestions for students' essays. For six years I have been a member of a children's writing critique group, regularly reviewing the stories submitted and occasionally writing my own.

I have always done well with editing and with making sure written projects flow well. They are also the project types I enjoy the most. When starting on an editing project, I start out by reading the project in its entirety. Next, I make edits based on the writer's goals. Then, I make the edit and include suggestions and comments. Lastly, I send the altered version of the project to the writer for review and make any changes requested.
