I'm building an iPad app that will be used in an art gallery, and I want to keep users from being able to press the home button to quit the app.
Instead, pressing the home button should return to the main menu of the app.
What I need from you is a simple app that, once started, listens for presses of the home button, and prints "Hello World" to the console via an NSLog. It should prevent the "home button pressed" event from reaching SpringBoard, so that the app does not quit.
Even long presses ("force quit") should be captured.
Requirements:
- It needs to be impossible for the user to quit the app. To quit the app, the device should have to be restarted.
- If it's possible to do the above with private APIs without jailbreaking the iPad, that's a bonus.
- If jailbreaking is required, that's fine.
Deliverable:
- Source code for the demo app and any necessary development tools beyond the standard iOS SDK.
