c# RichTextBox Find First Character and Last of Selection

Have a rich text box which when the user makes a selection I need a method to know the start index of that selection and the end character in order to insert into the rtf code some additional text. [login to view URL] is not ideal as it adds rtf headers to the text, so finding it withing the complete rtf box is not easy.
