We are looking for imaginative, inspiring and "different" blog writers. Do you love your city and want to share it with others? We need blog writers nationwide who are willing to write useful articles to help out people who are settling into their new hometown. Red Roamer ([login to view URL]) is a social network that connects individuals who are moving or who are new to a new city with other Movers and Shakers. Shakers represent individuals who are locals to the city and offer their advice or assistance to the Movers. Check out [login to view URL] for more information about the service. Here at Red Roamer we are young professionals on a mission to explore the world together. We picture our initial users to be the same. We want this blog to encourage individuals to pick up and go, move to a new place, explore a new part of their current city and meet new people who will lend a helping hand and make the transition a divine experience. The goal of the blog is to drive organic traffic to the website and offer useful information to individuals who are considering moving or who are trying to settle into a new city. There are a lot of emotions that come along with settling into a new place and we want to give our users useful tools, information, words of encouragement and moments of laughter to let them know that they are not alone. Our users need to feel like they have the confidence to conquer the world. Blog postings need to be well structured, informative, creative and entertaining. We need it to connect with users so a good sense of humor and sarcasm is welcomed! Content must always contain some piece of factual tidbit that can be cited from a viable source. At least one image must also be included in every blog posting. If this service and these words connect with you then please reach out to us. We would love to work with you! Please answer the following questions: 1. Tell us something interesting about yourself. 2. What do you think our users would be interested in reading about? 3. Have you moved to a new city before? If yes, what was the hardest part about the move. If not, why not? 4. Would you be willing to help out people who are new to your city? What sort of incentive would encourage you to help out more?

1. Hello! My name is Steph Castor, and I am a creative writing graduate from the University of Kansas. I am a freelance music journalist, and I have lived --for significant periods of time-- in California, Kansas, and Illinois. I've spent time along the coast of California, in the liberal pocket of Kansas known as Lawrence, and the deep heart of Chicago. 2. I believe users would be highly interested in learning how to really gain that clean slate. In other words, how they can be the person that they have really sought out to be and in a brand new place. There are lots of struggles so honing in on that ideal self-- job, school, friends, eating and living habits. Tips and lists of how-to's for city survival would be a concise way of making someone feel welcome when they are uncertain of their direction. 3. Yes. When I was 14, my mom and I moved from California to Kansas. When I was 18, I uprooted myself from Kansas to go to school in Chicago. I didn't have a job, friends, a car, a sense of geography-- I just went. It was exciting and terrifying. I had no idea about the person I was about to become, but it made for some of the most beautiful experiences and long-lasting friendships of my life. Culture shock is always a difficult thing as well. 4. Absolutely. There is nothing like having a sense of pride and passion for your city, even if you haven't always lived there and don't necessarily intend to stay. If I could advise someone's venture to Kansas, I could liberate them.

I am very interested in this job because I have moved many times in my life and, therefore, have started over many times, so I know what it's like emotionally, mentally, and physically. As a writer, I am able to articulate this experience, which I believe will be valuable to the site. I have lived in California, Florida, Tennessee, and New Hampshire and know New York City very well also because that's where my family is from. So, I could write knowledgeably about San Francisco, Los Angeles, Memphis, Tampa, Hanover (although as a small New England town this might not be the most useful destination), and New York. I have a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Dartmouth College and experience writing TV, film, short stories, and editorial pieces, so I know how to write effectively. To answer your questions more directly: 1) One interesting thing about me is that, once, I beat up a mugger in Paris. 2) There are three things, generally, that I want to know before moving somewhere: 1) what are my job options? 2) what are my living options? and 3) what is there to do for fun in this city? I don't think I'm very different from other people in wanting to know these things. 3) I moved to Los Angeles a year ago and the hardest part was finding a core group of friends. Once the necessities of having a job and apartment are covered, this becomes the most important need. 4) Absolutely, I would. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Best, Connor

1. I am a squirrel rehabilitator (weird I know, but they are more personable than most rodent pets people have) 2. Users are going to be looking for information about locations and how to establish local connections. 3. I have moved a few times. The hardest part was leaving behind everything and everyone familiar and facing the unknown in a variety of ways. Change is always scary, even when it is a positive one. 4. I live in a tourist destination and encounter people new to the area all the time as a volunteer at a historical site. I have great pride in my little southern city and have been here long enough to consider myself a wealth of information on all it has to offer.
