A REVIEW ON GAS - PHASE TROPOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS

Large quantities of chemical compounds are emitted into the atmosphere as a result of anthropogenic and biogenic [login to view URL] emission lead to a complex array of chemical and physical transformation resulting in such apparently diverse effect as photo chemical , air pollution , acid deposition, long range transport (LRT) of chemicals, changes in the stratospheric ozone layer and global weather modification. Over the past approximately 15-20 years a vast amount of experimental work in involving laboratory environmental chamber and ambient atmospheric studies, has been carried out conserning the chemical and physical processes occuring in the atmosphere. In this review artical, the chemistry of the major classes of organics of importance in the more polluted troposphere( alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and aromatic HCs) are dealt with. The reaction of organic compound under tropospheric reaction conditions dealt within the following sections:- [login to view URL] reactions of alkyl, alkoxy and alkyl peroxy radicals which are intermediate radical species in the degrdation reaction schemes of most organics. 2. Reaction of alcohols , ether, unsaturated carbonyls , caboxylic acids and hydroperoxides. 7. Reaction of those nitrogen containing organic compound formed as atmoshperic photooxidation product of alkane and alkenes.
