Build a Website

I'm looking to find out how a website like Hulu or Netflix is built and what are the costs associated with this type of website. I'm looking to develop a business similar to these but on a smaller scale. Aside from a website, how are these businesses' icons displayed on smart devices like apple tv, smart tvs, etc.. A little explanation into these things will help me better understand what services are needed.
