Electronic designer and maker, power electronics and RF/wireless specialist I am: Passionate about RF, power electronics and analog electronics. Good friend of software and digital electronics. Demanding about the ecological and recycling. Obsessive about quality and efficiency. Fan of technology and craftsmanship. I know how to, and how not to, design reliable and efficient electronic circuits. This is the result from 28 years of working and 35+ years of learning, experimenting and playing with analog electronics (much more than digital), RF, audio, and power electronics. Besides my academic studies, part of this experience comes from my amateur radio hobby (HF, AM & SSB lover), altough I actually started playing with electronics at the age of 9 years, then made a career of it, and then it became my profession. I got tired of seeing all kind of expensive devices damaged or destroyed by wrong design, some of them made by reputed brands. There could be design errors, but there are cases where there seems to be intentional "design flaws" or a big lack of common sense, such as heat-sensitive components installed next to heat-emitting components. Quality design means efficient design, not only energy-efficient but also money efficient, because nobody wants to pay for features that seem wonderful in the promotional brochure, but useless in real life. For example, a DC/AC solar inverter could be operated from an animated menu on a colorful touch screen or via 5 robust buttons and a standard LCD display. Which option is more failure-proof? My main skills are analog electronics that *needs* to be analog, for example: * anything that receive, transmit or uses RF * any system that processes very weak signals before or after the digital stages, or without them * power electronics * solar energy * very high voltage * linear and switching high-power PSU And: * antennas * EMC problems, EMI, RFI, electrical noise or strong electromagnetic fields * digital and analog audio and video * custom electronics: anything you imagine, gaming and customized PC, audio amplifiers, ham radio rigs, just ask * hardware hacking (turn what-you-have into what-you-need) * artistic and funny devices/toys I will agree with you about payment by milestones, by complete job, or by the hour, depending on the kind of work. less
